Some Questions and Answers about the project, what to expect from the events and how to participate.

Why have you organised this event?

To further our research on the experience of aging in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown. Stage 1 of the Public Age Commission was a period of 1:1 interviews with a cross section of the older community. Stage 2 – The Meeting House – seeks to extend that conversation into the public realm, highlight issues and affecting change. We see The Meeting House as a prototype for a new social space

How long will it last?

The event is scheduled to last for 1 hour. There will be a brief introduction and conclusion leaving about 40 minutes for the conversation.

Do I need to do anything before I come?

No. If you like you can reflect on your personal experiences of public space around the county, but in our experience hearing others speak prompts personal questions and remembrances.

What if I don't know anything about Public Space in DLR?Everybody who lives or works in the county has an experience of Public Space in DLR. We are looking to inform the conversation with as many personal experiences as possible.

What can you expect?

You can expect an interesting conversation and light refreshments. In our experience people often feel enriched by the experience.

What if it rains?

We will hold the event at an indoor or outdoor location, depending on weather and options available.

Can I bring a friend?

Unfortunately these events are invite only, but please ask them to get in touch and we will see if there are any spaces available on other events.
